THE LIT GAMES
Authors out of their comfort zones
"The most fun I've ever had at a book event."
- Bestselling author Chris Whitaker on playing Author Feud
Author Feud
Inspired by: Family Feud | Players: 4–8 | 30 or 60 min
Two teams of authors. One set of survey questions written entirely for the literary world. A buzzer, a scoreboard, and an audience that will absolutely lose their minds. Author Feud is the game that launched Novel Happenings— and it’s still the wildest 60 minutes in book festival history.
The Last Word
Inspired by: Pyramid / Password | Players: 2–6 | 30 or 60 min
Authors pair up and take turns giving one-word clues to get their partner to guess books, authors, characters, and literary moments—without saying any of the forbidden words on the card. Fast, funny, and genuinely tense.
Cover Story
Inspired by: Pictionary | Players: 4–8 | 30 min or 60 min
What happens when you ask a novelist to draw their own book cover in 60 seconds? Nothing good. Everything great. Authors illustrate titles, characters, plot moments, and literary classics—while their teammates and the audience desperately try to guess what they’re looking at.
