CUSTOM EVENTS
Book events should be fun.
A conversation follow by a signing behind a folding table isn't the only option. The best book events feel like an extension of the book itself whether it's the setting, the format, even the snacks can all be part of the story. That's the whole idea behind Novel Happening's Custom Event Production. We take what makes your book your book, and build an experience around it.
The idea.

BOOK LAUNCH
The Dogs of Venice by Steven Rowley
At dog-friendly Boozehounds in Palm Springs
Every book has a world in it already. Our job is to pull that world off the page and into a room (or a bus, or a backyard, or a dinner table) people actually want to be in.
Is your book set in Old Hollywood? Picture a book-themed bus tour tracing the real studio lots, boulevards, and backlots your characters would've walked with readers stepping into the book's setting instead of just reading about it.
Maybe it's historical fiction? We can build a full period dinner party. From menu, music, and mood pulled straight from your book's era, so guests aren't just hearing about the world, they're sitting inside it for a night.
The point isn't "here's our menu of event types." It's that the format should always follow the book. Contemporary romance, literary thriller, a memoir about growing up on a farm, there's a version of "fun" hiding in every one of them. Tangible, experiential, and translatable into bookstores should they want to get on board. We just have to find it.
SOME EXAMPLES USING CLASSICS
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
A kite-making party using recycled material for book launch with kite kits that bookstores can use for book events with Louisa May Alcott on tour
The Trial by Franz Kafka
Think site-specific book launch in a courtroom with a how-to guide complete with questions and set up instructions for a "mock trial" for bookstores to utilize throughout the author's tour
Two ways to work with us
Not sure where to start? Let's ideate.
Sometimes the hardest part isn't the execution, it's figuring out what the event even is. If you've got a book (or an idea for one) and no clear picture of what a launch, tour stop, or celebration could look like, that's exactly what this is for. Bring us the book. We'll bring the ideas.
Have an idea but don't know how to execute? We'll execute.
Maybe you already know exactly what you want, you just don't have the time, team, or logistics muscle to pull it off. That's the other half of what we do. Venue scouting, vendors, run-of-show, day-of production, etc. Just hand it to us and go be the author.
Idea generation. Full execution. Or both, start to finish — however much of the process you want off your plate, we're built to take it.
But what will it cost?
The short answer: it depends, but we can work with just about any budget.
Just like the product, the budget is totally bespoke to you and your needs. But reach out and let's talk!
